Colaiste Iosagain , Portarlington Students’ ‘All – Ireland’ Success At Singing and Running !

Students at Colaiste Iosagain , Portarlington have been competing in the All-Ireland Schools’ Talent Search and made astonishing progress through the local and regional qualifying rounds .The quarter finals were held in Mullingar Park Hotel recently and out of an original entry of almost two thousand nine hundred acts barely fifty remain . Melody , a trio of young female vocalists , Ailbhe Davis , Ciara Dunne and Katie Nutley , finished in an amazing thrid place while the school choir of around sixty students also finished in the top ten .The semi finals will be held in Castlebar while the national finals will be televised from The Helix , in Dublin.
Meanwhile the Colaiste Iosagain , Portarlington Cross Country teams have been doing very well at the Laois and South Leinster Schools’ Championships .At the Laois Championships held at the local O’Dempseys GAA ground , the girls Under Fourteen team had a crushing victory in the team competition taking seven of the first eight places. In the South Leinster Finals at Clongowes Wood College , Cormac Curtis and Orla Mullaly , (both overall winners of the Fastest First Year in Ireland competition on RTE Radio 1 last year) ,qualified for the Leinster Finals in tenth and twelfth places in their respective races .
