A very interesting visitor to Colaiste Iosagain , Portarlington recently was Chris Cook , a member of the Great Britain swimming team .Chris is sponsored by Sky Sports and visits schools thorughout Britain and Ireland .Best known for the breaststroke he took gold in the 50 and 100 metre finals representing England at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne. He also represented Great Britain at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens.Chris was the first British swimmer to beat 60 seconds for the 100m breaststroke event .
After a very motivational video Chris spoke mostly on the topic of goal setting and dreams .While having a sporting connection the talk was by no means just for those interested in physical fitness and competitive success at games .

Afterwards Niamh Downey , a competitive swimmer, who represents the school got to meet Chris along with some of the other students and staff.
