Smoking stinks

Colaiste Iosagain , Portarlington First Years Come Second in National Video Awards Ceremony .
On Thursday 14th May 2015, three First Year Students, Luke Melvein, Conor Slevin and Mark Gray attended the ‘Pumped’ Video Awards Ceremony. They had been shortlisted for their animation ‘Smoke Stinks’.
The students used software to design a ninety second video of a rapping superhero who explains to teenagers the damaging effects of smoking and encourages them to live healthy lifestyles.
From over 80 national entries they were selected as runners up in their category. What an achievement!!
Their hard work and innovation was rewarded with a certificate, a voucher, national newspaper coverage and a TV appearance on RTÉ’s 2NewsToday.
Luke was also very lucky and was given the opportunity to help interview Dr. Angie Brown, Consultant Cardiologist and Medical Director of the Irish Heart Foundation with the RTÉ team.
Congratulations to the team on their achievement and positive representation of Coláiste Íosagáin in the national spotlight.
