Colaiste Iosagain , Portarlington P.E. Department was recently picked from hundreds of applicants to implement the iRunForFun school diary programme in their school . This is the first programme of its kind to be implemented in schools .
The P.E. Department are currently organising iRunForFun diaries in their classes.This is a new programme to encourage students to embrace a healthy lifestyle and enhance their lives by walking , jogging and running some of the most basic forms of exercise .
Each student has their own personal diary that helps set goals , monitors their progress ,plans training and records their results .
The programme is broken into six week blocks .Each week has a recommended workout that is carried out as a class .The training only takes fifteen minutes but will greatly improve students fitness .Students also have to carry out training in their own time to get the most out of their training . All levels of ability can take part .Students pick which certificate to aim for with the help of their teachers .
Gold certificate is aimed at the most accomplished runner , silver for anyone who has a good level of fitness and bronze for those who have been injured or are just get fit again.
The beauty of this programme is that it suits all abilities and now that it’s the season of transformation Colaiste Iosagain staff and students are really embracing this programme.It also is a good help to aim for their annual 5k in May
