Colaiste Iosagain , Portarlington will once again host their annual 5K run on Friday May 20. This is the fifth event so some students will have participated every year of their time in the school .The run will start and finish in the school grounds and will commence at 1130am . The students and teachers will run around the streets of Portarlington and all support on the day would be greatly appreciated .Next door neighbours Oakdale once again support the race .Around 650 students have registered for this event and they are busy during their P.E. classes and after school training .
The now traditional route is down the Bog Road as far as Marian Hill, turn right into Spa Street , around by the leisure centre , up Main Street and back to the school via Patrick Street .Last year’s winners Lauren Barry and Christopher Whittle are still strong favourites although the latter may have competition from Third Year , Adam Kirwan who recently set a new school mile record of well under six minutes .Excitement and anticipation are already rising in the school ahead of this eagerly awaited event .There will be prizes for first home but more important for most students will be the sense of achievement of completing their first 5K run.

Last years winners Alex Whittle and Lauren Barry cross the finish line .
