The school has received this email which may be of interest .
“My name is John Holland and I am the secretary of the Portarlington Business Association Sustainable Energy Community group. Our group has recently started hosting a monthly family-friendly cycle event, aligned to the Critical Mass world wide cycle movement which aims to promote safe cycling in urban areas.
We have been hosting this monthly event since April with a very strong turnout and we would love to sign off on another school year by giving students (along with parents and teachers) the chance to cycle around the streets of Portarlington which are too dangerous for many to cycle.
We believe that everyone (no matter your age or ability) should be able to safely cycle in their town and we are working with Laois and Offaly County Councils to improve cycling infrastructure in Portarlington.
We would love to see a really big turnout on the day as a fun way of ending the school year and to show that the people of Port want to see safer cycling and more active travel in this town.
We are asking the schools if you can please send this invitation (attached) to all parents and teachers in the coming days as well as the below Google Forms RSVP link so that we have an idea of numbers attending on the day?
See below the FaceBook event for more details. Alternatively you can contact John on
0857556240 or by emailing
portarlingtonsec@gmail.com.
Kind regards,
John Holland
Secretary Portarlington BA Sustainable Energy Community”
